cover Welcome to Your Child's Brain_3rd_revWelcome to Your Child’s Brain: How the Mind Grows from Conception to College was released in September 2011.

“Dr. Wang and Dr. Aamodt playfully and engagingly introduce us to the hidden talents of our children’s brains.”  Dr. Mehmet Oz, host of The Dr. Oz Show

“Few humans are as neurotic as parents, frantic about the disastrous lifelong consequences of every errant hiccup. In this smart, funny, accessible, and supremely sane book, Aamodt and Wang explain that our supposed knowledge in this realm is riddled with urban myths and that a child’s brain is tough and resilient in the face of adversity. This is a terrific, fun, educational book.” — Dr. Robert Sapolsky, author of Why Zebras Don’t Get Ulcers

“Fact-filled and fascinating, Welcome to Your Child’s Brain will answer many of parents’ most urgent questions. Neuroscientists Sandra Aamodt and Sam Wang present the real data that will help parents understand and nurture their children of all ages.”  Dr. Lise Eliot, Associate Professor of Neuroscience at Rosalind Franklin University and author of What’s Going On in There? and Pink Brain, Blue Brain

  1. Respected Prof Dr Sandra Aamodt

This is Om B C, a research student of psychology from Nepal. I am very interested to read your book,
Welcome to Your Child’s Brain: How the Mind Grows from Conception to College
. This book will help me in my study, research and training greatly. But unfortunately I could not found this book in Nepal. I told the several book sellers of Nepal to
order this book for me. But they were unable to order single copy for
me. Due to no banking facilities and credit card, I am unable to order
    this book from Amazon etc.

Therefore I kindly request you for help. If you have extra copy
of this book or spare used book or other books of your interest in
this subject, you can help me by sending a copy of this book or
others. I hope to receive your blessings.

    Thank you very much.
    With regards!
    Om BC from Nepal

    • No, we don’t have a French translation for either of our books. Apparently French publishers don’t buy as many foreign books as publishers in other countries.

  2. Hello Dr. Aamodt,

I just read the Practical Tip on Chapter 11 as it relates to noise levels and hearing loss. My question has to do with noise producing products, white noise machines, and their effects on babies. Are these along the same lines of those that could produce hearing issues? They seem to help children sleep better.

    Thank you,

  3. Hi Sandra,
You were editor in chief when I submitted my first Nature Neuroscience paper in 2007. You were amazing and managed that manuscript so well. I wish I could still work with you. I love your book.
    Thanks again,
